Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Ames

Stayed for a couple of nights at this location while visiting the nearby University. Overall it is in a good location near the highway, lots of fuel and food options nearby, and a short drive to our University. Overall, the service staff was nice and the rooms were nice. The tub in the bathroom could have used a better cleaning especially the shower head but certainly not a show stopper.

Everything I experienced at this hotel was great from check in to check out. While there as a bit of delay waiting for someone to arrive to check in the front desk clerk was apologetic and super nice. The room was huge and comfortable and well lit. My boys loved the pool and I liked that there was a little outdoor patio next to the pool room to enjoy. Breakfast was basic but good. Overall an enjoyable experience and we will use this hotel again!

Quick take, descent hotel. Did the job, but could have been better. I'll explain. Marriot Bonvoy has branded itself as the "quality" chain option. And so far, most Marriot hotels have felt a step above the standard chain. For instance, smelling nice, being clean, and having lots of room. My first Marriot had all those, it just nickel and dimed you. (Who charges guests for parking!? That was you Courtyard in Springfield, MO). But after that, I got the full package in Spring Hill Suites. Very well done. But the Fairfield...except for the dining area, which was at least tier 2, everything felt pretty standard budget hotel. And that's unfortunate because it does cost a bit more. Maybe this is the economical Marriot hotel. I can live with that. But still, smelling a bit better, and having all of your bathroom fixures work properly would be amazing. Just for starters. Also, the AC was broke. No matter what you set it to, it just kept cooling. I think I work uo to temps in the 40s. Still, it was a step above the budget hotels. Clean fridge and microwave. Clean well kept bed. Plenty of outlets, etc. Just not a 5.

The staff was friendly and professional. The room was clean but is in need of a fresh coat of paint. The wear and tear is becoming too obvious to ignore.

Wow!! What excellent service!! Alyssa went above and beyond every request we had. We stayed here for my niece's wedding and it was absolutely fabulous!! Very quiet, room was clean, breakfast was great and location was excellent. I will be staying here from now on because of Alyssa's help, friendliness and kindness. I was not familiar with the area and she gave us great advice. Thanks so much Alyssa!!

My parents came into town for a surprise birthday party for my sister-in-law. They tried to get a room where everyone else was staying but the hotel was sold out. They were very impressed with Nicole. Her professionalism, courtesy and service was top notch. Very accommodating. The room was nice and clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was very wholesome and offered alot of variety. They said they would definitely return again to this hotel when they're in the area.

The indoor pool was way too cold so that was dissapointing. We were hoping to enjoy it. The room was clean and spacious. Extra pillows upon request and all staff were very nice and accommodating

My stay was short and sweet. The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. I was able to compliment the manager Meredith. She was so friendly speaking with some folks while enjoying their breakfast. The room was perfect. Beds comfortable. I will definitely be staying there again.
